The Dental Practitioner Graduate Program is open to all graduates from the disciplines of oral health/science, dental prosthetics and dentistry.
As a first year graduate working in the public oral health sector you will:
- have access to a structured mentoring program to support professional growth
- have access to a range of clinical development programs to enhance your clinical practice
- experience a variety of clinical cases to perfect your skills.
Dental Practitioner Graduate Program benefits
As a first year graduate, you will have the opportunity to:
- participate in a program that will equip you with the necessary skills to transition effectively into the workforce
- gain training that addresses development of clinical and leadership skills
- gain invaluable clinical and operational experience in community settings
- develop a broad skill base by rotating through various community settings including the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne
- benefit from a structured mentoring program in your workplace
- learn and be mentored by experienced community clinicians
- be involved in project work undertaken by the community clinics
- network with other graduates in oral health across the state.

Graduates who relocate to regional or rural areas will also be eligible for a rural bonus and relocation allowances.

Submissions are open for the January 2013 program and applications close 29 October 2012.
Acceptance into the Dental Practitioner Graduate Program is for a fixed term of no more than 12 months.The Program commences late January each year. Short-listed applicants will be required to attend an interview in Melbourne as part of the recruitment process, the date will be advised by Dental Health Services Victoria.
For graduates currently employed, Manager approval is required.
Applications must be accompanied by:
- Covering letter outlining why you would benefit from the Dental Practitioner Graduate Program
- Curriculum Vitae
- Current university examination results
- Two clinical referees
- Manager approval if currently employed at a public dental clinic
Qualifications recognised by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
are essential.
