High rates of oral disease continue to be a significant burden for preschool-aged children and their families. It is important that we intervene early and positively to reduce this burden.
Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) recommends that a child first visits the dentist at 12 months of age. Oral health practitioners can use these early visits to create a positive oral health experience for both child and parent. It is also an ideal opportunity to provide valuable preventative advice and treatment that will promote better oral health throughout life.
