Overseas Trained Dentist Dental Assistant Program
Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV), the state’s leading public dental agency, is offering a 10 week structured program for Overseas-Trained Dentists who want to become Dental Assistants in Australia. The program is designed to give the participant the skills and knowledge expected of a Dental Assistant in Australia.
The 10 week program includes:
- 3 weeks theory and pre-clinical experience in the Dental Teaching Clinic at the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne (RDHM).
- 2 weeks clinical experience in the Dental Teaching Clinic at RDHM concentrating on infection control, patient communication and management, work, health and safety (WHS), instrument and material identification.
- 3 weeks community centre rotation for hands-on sterilisation and chair-side experience and administration observation.
- 2 weeks speciality rotations at RDHM.
This program enables participants to become job ready and pursue Certificate III in Dental Assisting certification.
