Did you know that children and teens may be eligible for free general dental care at one of the many public dental teaching clinics across Victoria?
If you have children under the age of 13 they can get free general dental treatment* provided by dental students at The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne (RDHM) or at one of the dental teaching clinics across Victoria. General dental treatment includes check-ups and advice, cleaning, fillings and fissure sealants, extractions and x-rays.
- No concession cards are needed
- They will not have to wait as long for an appointment.
Students work under the close supervision of fully qualified and experienced dental practitioners. Your child will receive the high level of care that you would expect from a fully qualified dental practitioner.
Teenagers under the age of 18 who hold, or whose parents hold, a health care or pensioner concession card can also get free general dental treatment* at RDHM or at one of the public dental teaching clinics across Victoria.
*Not all patients are suitable for dental treatment by a student and may need to be referred to a separate clinic. When this happens, those families without a health care or pensioner concession card may need to pay a fee.. Please go to our dental services page for more information on eligibility and fees.
If you prefer your child to be seen by an experienced dentist for general dental treatment, instead of a student, there may be a fee. Go to our dental services page for more information on eligibility and fees.
