We're honoured to announce we have won the prestigious international 2022 Value Based Health Care Prize.

Victoria’s lead oral health organisation, Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV), has won the prestigious international 2022 Value Based Health Care (VBHC) Prize.

The Award recognises health care initiatives that have adopted a fundamentally new line of thinking in creating excellent patient value in terms of real outcomes, real connections and one common language.

Chief Executive Officer, Sue McKee, said the award highlights the potential of DHSV’s health care approach to fundamentally change how oral health care is delivered.

“It’s an honour to be recognised by the Value-Based Health Care Center Europe for our commitment to achieving the oral health outcomes that matter most to patients,” said Sue.

“The award acknowledges the innovative nature of our integrated health care approach, and its capacity to reduce the overwhelming burden of oral disease, particularly for vulnerable groups and those experiencing disadvantage in the community.”

Central to DHSV’s framework is partnering with consumers and staff to help drive better health outcomes, measure the outcomes that matter to patients, and transform service delivery to create value for patients.

“Our patient-centred care is co-designed with consumers to ensure we deliver the best possible health outcomes and patient experience. This approach ensures we provide patients with the right services by the right person in the right locations,” said Sue.

“The award is testament to the passion and dedication shown by our staff to fundamentally change how oral health treatment is delivered,” said Sue.

This is the second time that DHSV’s oral healthcare initiative has been recognised by the VBHC Centre Europe, with the health service also taking out the Primary Care Award as part of the 2019 Value Based Health Care Prize.

“We’re thrilled to receive international recognition for our commitment to delivering patient-centred oral health outcomes. We hope this helps to inspire health care providers all over the world,” said Sue.
