Promoting good oral health at Melbourne Zoo

Smile Squad made an exciting school holiday pit stop at Melbourne Zoo. We partnered with local community health service Merri Health to provide free oral health checks and one-on-one expert advice.

The Health Promotion team offered a range of fun activities with an oral health theme for kids visiting the zoo, including dramatic play and an oral health wordsearch, complete with prizes.

We handed out more than 550 free oral health packs during the day and 167 kids jumped into the Smile Squad vans to get their oral health checks.

Dental Health Services Victoria is a proud supporter of Zoos Victoria’s commitment to fighting wildlife extinction and they in turn support our mission to improve the oral health of all Victorians, particularly those most in need. We had a fang-tastic day at the zoo and can't wait for our next visit!
